FAQ

  1. Do you need a prescription or referral to start physical therapy?

New York is a direct access state meaning you can be evaluated and treated without a prescription. However, if your treatment extends beyond 30 days or 10 visits, whichever comes first, you will need to see a physician for a referral.

  2. Do I see the same therapist every time?

You will always be treated by the same physical therapist that you start with, except for special circumstances where scheduling difficulties exist.

  3. Will someone guide me while I am exercising?

At Function Enhancing Physical therapy we strongly believe that all patients must be closely supervised and guided through their exercise program, and will never be left unattended.

  4. What do I need to wear to physical therapy?

Wear comfortable loose fitting clothing and a pair of rubber soled shoes/sneakers.

  5. Is your facility clean/safe?

Every room/treatment area and equipment is cleaned and sanitized prior to every patient. Since the start of the COVID pandemic we have followed all CDC sanitization recommendations.

  6. Do you offer private treatment rooms?

At Function Enhancing Physical Therapy we offer all our patients private treatment rooms. We believe that this is critical in enhancing the one on one experience.

  7. How long will my treatment last?

Generally your initial visit will last about one hour since your therapist needs to evaluate your condition and provide treatment. Your follow-up visit may last from 40 minutes to an hour depending on your injury or condition.

  8. How about if I don’t have insurance?

For patients that do not have insurance we offer discounted rates and treatment packages.
